Become a Mentor.

What is A Recovery Coach?

Recovery Coaching is a person-to-person, recovery support service that is designed to encourage another to move into a lifetime of recovery. A Recovery Coach addresses personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, links a newly recovering person to the recovery community, and serves as a personal guide and mentor.

Recovery Coaches help persons completing treatment or coming home from prison to avoid relapse, build community support and work on life goals such as better relationships, physical wellness, work, and education.

Recovery Coaches may work in recovery community centers, treatment agencies, criminal justice programs, or health care facilities. Their work may be paid or it may be as a volunteer.

Many recovery coaches bring their lived-experience with recovery to their work.  Others bring a personal commitment to helping and supporting individuals walk a recovery path.

Training, supervision, continuing education, and living a life that is consistent with principles of self-management and wellness are all important elements of success as a Recovery Coach.
